Fun with Blocks
Written by: Tiffany Joyce
For the holiday weekend Lexi and I went to upstate NY for some time with my family. My Mom has these fantastic wooden blocks that I adore and so I had a little shoot with Lexi and the blocks. I’ve been thinking more and more about putting myself out there to photograph children and I think this would be a great prop to have. Do you have any suggestions?
For anyone that calls me an uptight mother I’d like to point out that I have no problem allowing my child to eat her own shoe while I set up a shot. I’m still working with the D700 learning curve and my fantastic 50mm lens with the great depth of field is my new go-to-lens. For the first time I’m seeing some natural vignetting.
And the shoe went away and Lexi noticed the blocks and started her army crawl to get to them STAT. And now the focus changes.
And then she considered which block would be the tastiest of all the blocks.
And she selected the letter E. Good choice.
I was thinking about all kinds of things I’d love to do with these blocks. Making picture books of real animals and then laying over a photo of the animals name in the blocks seemed like a cute idea too. What do you use for props?
