Photography Gift Ideas

Written by:

Friends, there are only 90 shopping days left until Christmas! Here are some gift ideas for the photographer in your life:

A gift subscription to a photography magazine is always a sure bet. A subscription to Popular Photography is $24 for two years and $14 for one year (12 issues per year). For our friends in the UK, Practical Photography runs you (L)11.25 for a 13-issue year.

Every photographer I know can always use another gear bag. There are bags for every type of application and budget, from the $12 Snap Sights Camera Caddy to the $599 Billingham Shoulder Bag.

Sundry items such as lens caps, lens hoods, memory cards, and cleaning kits are always exceedingly useful. Small, thoughtful items such as these also make great stocking stuffers.

If you’re looking to spoil someone with something a bit more extravagant, find out what kind of lens they’ve been yearning for and splurge! Some of the top rated lenses on B&H’s site include the Nokton 58mm f/1.4 SL-II Manual Focus Lens for Nikon AIS for $379.99, the Nikon Normal Macro 60mm f/2.8D AF Micro Nikkor Autofocus for $479.95, the Canon Zoom Wide Angle-Telephoto EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM Autofocus Lens for $1,299.95, and the Canon Normal EF 50mm f/1.2L USM Autofocus Lens for $1,599.88.

Tripods and other camera support are also a great way to go, especially if the photographer in your life travels a lot. If they already have a tripod, consider giving them a monopod to expand their flexibility. Or, give them a spare quick release assembly for the tripod they already have – if they have more than one camera, they’ll thank you for giving them the ability to switch out cameras easily without having to remove the quick release.

I hope I have given you some good ideas for your Christmas shopping this year. Feel free to share your own ideas in the comments!
