		<description>I love this post. I use a macro lense for my wild flower photography but agree that it is not essential, I ahve done some good pictures with a point and shoot too! </description>

But circular polarizers are necessary for any camera with a through-the-lens (TTL) metering system, not just autofocus cameras.  This means that almost every SLR camera post-1970 will require a circular polarizer and not a linear one.
