Two Things That Convinced Me to Upgrade to CS5
Written by: Tiffany Joyce
Unless you’ve been living under a rock (or are not a fan of Photoshop), you’ve already heard that Adobe recently released their latest and greatest version, Photoshop CS5. I currently own CS3, and for the most part have been happy with the level of capabilities that it offers me.
However, after a recent conversation with Sherry, and a bit more research, I have become convinced that I want… no, need to upgrade to CS5.
The first new capability that made me excited is the “Content Aware Fill” tool. This is similar to the “clone” tool that is currently featured in Photoshop products, but SO MUCH BETTER. You simply select the area you wish to “erase” from the image, click on this tool, and it automatically calculates the surroundings and background and performs the function for you. It is absolutely stunning, fantastic, exciting, jaw-dropping… yeah, you can tell I’m a little excited about this.
Anyway, the good folks over at CS5.org have put together a demonstration video:
The second feature I’m happy about is the new and enhanced photo “Merge to HDR” functionality. Word on the street says the capabilities of CS5 in this area far outstrip those of CS3. Adobe TV offers a great overview video of this enhanced feature:
So, check these new features out, and decide for yourself whether or not it’s worth the price of the upgrade!
